Ooh, a crow that's displaying negative emotion? I don't think I've seen you do one of these before, and you know what, I like it! That sharp beak and even sharper glare just screams "I'm so not happy." In fact, I admire it so much I'm going to write something to go along with it. Poetry won't work right, so I get to use prose!
A full week has gone by without incident, but when it comes to my charming, clumsy partner, nothing is certain. I chose him partly because of his imperfections, but there are times when he does manage to strike me with a headache.
I went out for a quick bath, expecting him to fetch breakfast while I was away.
I waded into the nearby stream and doused myself with its cool waters. After a brisk shake and a thorough preening I was alert and rejuvenated, not to mention sprinkled with countless sparking droplets.
As I approached the oak tree we called home, a short black feather emerged from the leaves and danced past me, surfing on the dawn breeze. I penetrated the maze of branches and was instantly irritated.
Before me, sprawled out belly up on a particularly thick limb, was my significant other. He was still fast asleep, too busy sailing through his dream world to acknowledge my presence.
I was hungry, and yet there was not a shred of food to eat. Clearly he hadn't even bothered to catch at least a sizable fish.
I perched next to his tail, crossed my wings, and simply stared at him. I hoped my irritation would singe his feathers and startle him awake.
Alas, it did not.
I rolled my eyes and exhaled sharply. This was certainly turning out to be a fantastic morning.
